2021 was another record-breaking year of generosity and fundraising efforts from everyone in Irish Life. Despite not being able to run any in-person events due to Covid-19, Irish Life staff still pulled together and ran several initiatives for our Staff Charities, including Fantasy Football and Golf and many other virtual fundraisers.
To end the year, we had an amazing virtual gig with Imelda May and the total raised for our 2021 charities was announced. The Staff Charities Committee handed over cheques totalling €414,000 to Larkin College and ALONE. This was €207,000 raised by staff and €207,000 from Irish Life which continues to match every Euro employees raised.
Despite everything, Irish Life staff once again exceeded the previous year's target! This is an incredible amount of money for both Charities and will help provide support services and equipment needs.
The 2022 Charites
We are very excited to announce our two chosen charities for 2022, Alzheimer’s Ireland and Women’s Aid.
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is the leading dementia care organisation in Ireland with 26 local branches and a national network of Day Care Centres, Home Care/Support Services, Carer Support Groups and one residential Respite Centre. With 30 people being diagnosed with dementia every day, their services have never been more in demand.
Women's Aid is a leading national organisation that has been working in Ireland to stop domestic violence against women and children since 1974.
Women’s Aid work to make women and children safe from domestic violence, offer support, provide hope to women affected by abuse and work for justice and social change. Over the course of 40 years the organisation has built up a huge body of experience and expertise on the issue, enabling them to best support women and children through various services, and share this knowledge with other agencies responding to women experiencing domestic violence.
Both Alzheimer’s Ireland and Women’s Aid need support so they can continue to offer this care. Irish Life Staff have already run various fundraising initiatives and there are more planned for the rest of the year!
